About the Program
CURRICULUM
Health Science is part of the Career and Technical Education opportunities offered to high school students in Tennessee. Our program, Sport and Human Performance specifically, is geared toward sports medicine, kinesiology, nutrition, exercise, and rehabilitative careers. Our goal is to prepare students to be college and career ready by offering opportunities for college credit or industry certifications. Tennessee requires students to graduate with college credit and/or certifications to be better prepared to enter the ever changing world economy. Currently we offer Medical Terminology through Nashville State which will be a MIXED course with Anatomy and Physiology, with testing during senior year. The industry certification offered is OSHA 10, which has been widely successful since implementation starting during the 2018-19 school year.
INSTRUCTORS
The program currently consists of two instructors, Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Glasgow. Each instructor comes from a different background to bring a unique approach to the curriculum. If at any time, you as the parent or student would like advice, guidance, or support in determining the future direction either during their secondary career or post secondary career please feel free to reach out to either teacher. It brings us great joy to see our students happy and succeeding!
